Staff Development
Hannah Davies
Hi, I am Hannah Davies, the Training Manager at Genus Care. I came into this role in March 2019. Prior to this I was the schoolteacher at Ynys Y Bwt for 4 years within the company, and was originally a primary school teacher.
I am married with 3 children. I have a passion for creating art, and I also love to do yoga, read and spend quality time with my family and friends.
My job is to ensure all Genus Care employees are trained and qualified in order to undertake their roles to the best of their ability. I work with local colleges and training providers to put staff through level 2, 3 and 5 Diplomas as well as delivering training ‘in-house’ (my teaching background is useful when needing to keep groups quiet and on task!). I also monitor all staff CPD (Continued Professional Development) and perform audits across all areas of the company to identify weak spots that training can address. Our Core training includes (but isn’t limited to):
- Safeguarding
- Behaviour Management
- Well-being (including Nutrition)
- Recording and Communication
- Engaging young people
- Legislation
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- It’s My Life
I do this through training days that are practical and engaging and focus on the company policies and procedures, our young people’s personal plans and the legislation.
I also ensure the Induction process and Low Arousal Training are both scheduled into the training calendar as appropriate.
In addition, I source and manage all external training that we consider ‘core’ in Genus Care:
- Health & Safety; including COSHH, Risk Assessment, Fire Safety, Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Security and Managing Stress
- Safeguarding children and young people
- Nutrition & Hydration
- Communication
- Medication Awareness
- Food Hygiene
- Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
- PREVENT: Extremism and Radicalisation awareness
- Attachement & Bonding
The training matrixes are updated every fortnight, a monthly report is sent to the Directors of the company and a training schedule is implemented bi-annually.
I oversee the AWIF completion, the Health and Social Level 2 and 3 candidates with the local colleges, and the Level 5 and the Assessors Award for our senior staff.
