Working With Us

We're always interested in speaking to and meeting the right people who want to join our team- experienced or not. The only criteria we place real emphasis on is passion and commitment for the job of helping, supporting and working with our children. If you think you can offer us this and more then please get in touch.

If you are caring, hard- working, positive, have a good sense of humour, imaginative, love children and would like to be part of changing lives for the better then we are the company you need to work for. We have a number of challenging but very rewarding roles and welcome applications at any time.
We want all our employees to grow with us as our children do so we are committed to their training and development. We believe that if you invest in people they will be happy in their job, thrive and do well which in turn means happier children and a great organisation to be a part of. There is no experience necessary (but would be beneficial in the relevant qualification) you will be expected to complete a Diploma Level 3 in Health & Social Care in Children and Young people within two years of employment, attend full and half day training courses and team meetings and take your career and professional development seriously.
We also offer a health & well-being allowance to promote healthier lifestyles and an annual performance related bonus. We have recently signed up for the 'ride to work' scheme where all employees can purchase heavily discounted bicycles and accessories from Halfords. There are incentives for being nominated for employee of the quarter and for winning suggestions from our suggestion boxes. There will also be promotion opportunities within the company. All employees must undergo a DBS check, hold a current Driving Licence, must be over 21 and pass a 6-month probationary period. We can't wait to meet you.

Genus Care Ltd look after children and young people who have had a difficult start in life and they have all suffered trauma, neglect and abuse and poor education. Some have additional needs and disability. This has led to them to be emotionally unstable, frustrated with their situation, distrusting of adults, confused anxious and scared of what is to become of them. This manifest itself in behaviours that is referred to as 'challenging'; which means they can and often will be verbally and physically threatening, violent and non-compliant. They will be impulsive and display behaviour which they have seen and been immersed in for a long time. Our job is to enable positive change in their lives by providing stability, routine, positive regard, opportunity and structure.
Whilst we will ensure our staff are suitably supported, trained, mentored and coached there will be times where you will be spat at, hit, kicked, shouted at, insulted and ignored. we, as a company, hold the view that we need to persevere with children (stability will only come this way) and we hope you, as an individual employee, can support us to do this.
Please consider this before submitting your application as we need to ensure we employ the right people who wish to change lives of our children for the better and have a long enjoyable career with us.
